Paul was born in Weltvreden, Batavia, Indonesia May 1, 1912, the fourth child of missionary Ds. Daniel (Daan) Crommelin and Anna Helena (Hélène) Niehans. Having emigrated to the United States after the war, he was employed with Hewlett-Packard for many years in their Customer Repair Center. He and his wife Teresa (Theresia Helena Maria Holt) lived at Palo Alto, Atherton,California. They were married June 2, 1943 at Oldebroek, Holland. Paul was a direct descendant of Daniel Crommelin, the founder of the Merchant House Daniel Crommelin & Soonen (see below).
