** John Crommelin Lamb, Captain in the 52nd Bengal Native Infantry - died 24th June 1854. Son of Assistant-Surgeon John Lamb (Bengal Medical Service). Born at Malda, Bengal, 14th August 1818. Served Punjab 1848 (medal and 2 bars). Married Louisa Smith at Gorakhpur, 24th August 1846. His grave is at Fort Cemetery, Amritsar - "Sacred to the memory of John Crommelin Lamb, Captain in the 52nd Bengal Native Infantry and executive officer of the Lahore and Ferozepore road, died at Amritsar 24th June 1854 aged 37 years. He was an earnest and devoted Christian." He left two children, Charles and Freddy.
