According to a letter and Cissey's book of remembrance of 'Donsje', Marien and Cissey were introduced in July 1905 at 'Dennenhof' - the home of Cissey's sister (Willem and Cecilia's other daughter), Florence Henriette van Notten-Boissevain, and her husband, Johan Carel van Notten.
Here Cissey and Marien (center) can be seen on a picnic with Marien's parents, Jacob Willem Hendrik Crommelin and Clara Wilhelmina Crommelin-Wilkens, and Marien's brother Daan Crommelin and wife-to-be Helene Niehans
shortly before their departure for missionary work in Batavia (Modjo Warno, Indonesia), 1906.February 14, 1907
(from Clara Crommelin-Wilken's Journal)
Today, the pre-wedding ceremony (or introduction) of Marien and Cissey. May the Lord bless their union and give them a good future together through their love for each other. May they marry with a dependence on the Lord and not trust in their own strength.![]()
A formal reception - perhaps the 1932 Silver Wedding anniversary
at "Rusthoven", Bloemendaal. We had a dinner in the living room with 29 guests. Everything went well; the table was nicely decorated with rhododendrons. The dear bride, who recently was ill, came also but she looked a little drawn. Her father (Willem Boissevain), gave a nice speech and handed her a ring which her mother (Cecilia Henriette Catherina Nugent) had worn and which would be a lucky charm for them. It would be a reminder of the love, patience, and forgiving nature which her dear mother had always displayed.

Cissey and Marinus Crommelin were married on February 28, 1907. (This was the second marriage between a Boissevain and a Crommelin).
February 28, 1907
The wedding day of Marien and Cissey. Everything went as well as could be wished for. The dear bride, who had been lying in bed for a few days, fortunately was feeling much better so the wedding could indeed take place. With seven family members we drove first to the municipal hall where the 'wethouder' gave the young couple a stirring message. After that we went to the Evangelical building where the marriage ceremony took place under Ds. Creutsberg. He spoke on 1 Corinthians 13:7, and what he said was very good.A lady opened by singing two solos. The two youngest Boissevain children (Ernest & Mathilde) held the bridal train while little Cissey van Notten followed carrying a basket of flowers. It was a charming sight to see the little thing with such an air of importance fulfilling her task.
This was followed by a marvelous lunch that went very well and was enjoyed by all. The newly-weds then departed by automobile for "Reehorst" and along the way paid a visit to an old uncle in Zeist who had warm feelings for them. After sharing a cup of tea with us at "Reehorst", the couple left for Arnhem.
May God bless this new couple. May He give them good fortune through their love for each other. There are so many difficulties in married life which in the beginning we don't anticipate. May the Lord give them a strong faith, love and patience with each other's shortcomings. I truly hope they will have a good life together. Both have a great need for affection and long so much to have their own home after the nomadic life which each has led so far.
(Note: The newly-weds went to Wiesbaden, Germany for their honeymoon from March 1-10, 1907) Of course, sister Florence Henriette van Notten-Boissevain was there too...
