The Blindfolded Lion
When the eyes are won,
Your strength is undone.The lion is majestic and strong,
Striking fear in everyone's sight,
Though once captured, you become the master,
To show him who really has might.Even so the lovely cheek of a comely maiden new,
First causes the heart to skip and to gradually be subdued.
Slowly the man, a gallant lad, learns to be the slave;
For her taunts, her logic, her frowns, her tears, and eyes - rolling or sad,
'Gainst these weapons of mass destruction, how can anyone be brave?Both Sage and Soldier, wise man and fool,
Each in his own way surrenders to become the fair maiden's tool;
So, strength through the eyes is ever betrayed,
As a fearsome Lion, into a meek little Lamb, is inexorably made.If your eyes have been conquered, be sure,
Love's fetters you now must endure.
