The Broken Blade

Love is the cure for life's inner wounds.

While lightning's fiery force can shatter the brittle steely blade,
It hurts not the leather sheath which for the same is made.
The force of Love is like lightning's fiery charm,
It can shatter a brittle heart, yet leave no visible harm.

Oh, for such great pains as these
Is there a physician to be found -
One who carries no potions, please,
But who knows a remedy profound?

I look not for creams, pills, powders and such
To ease my recurring fits;
All I ask is the salve of a healing touch -
The soothing balm of kisses, from my doctor's lips.

Outwardly there appears no wound,
But Inwardly the hurt is profound.
