The Burning Brand

Take faithfulness to heart, or else
you'll regret it from the very start!

The one who dallies with love, or with a burning brand,
Must not careless be about the thing he is holding
Because perchance he may burn his hand
While his married life is unfolding.

Two ends there are to each of these,
The one being cool while the other end is burning,
So gripping the proper end is safe enough
But to grasp the other will cause grief and moaning.

Marriage too has a two-fold end that brings us in the power
Of wealth and woe, joy and pain, and taste that's sweet or sour,
Fidelity on one hand will fulfill your dreams
And make two lives complete,
But the lack thereof will scorch your spouse,
And consume a blissful marriage sweet!

Love, like Fire, has its hazards and its benefits.
Handle both with care.
