Re-lighting One's Candle
The ever-smoldering wick of love and faith
Never goes out until we die.Recently I was freed from the fiery flame,
Which very nearly my life did claim,
A soothing coolness in my heart returned,
And my heart grew stronger which lately burned.
Only a smoldering spark was all that remained
And to snuff this thing out, I believed,
Would be my greatest gain.A short time later when another fire came near,
'If I touch it not', I thought, 'there's no reason to fear',
So I merely gazed upon it but, alas, her flame
To me-wards extended
Which kindled straight away my flame again,
And so my brief respite was ended.
