The Drawer is Drawn

While she stands firm,
a lover can draw himself to her.

I draw my love while she's standing still,
While she unknowingly draws me 'gainst her will.
Sweetheart, you don't draw me, yet with force I'm being drawn, you see,
With all my might I pull, yet you make no effort in approaching me.

Though I draw hard, unmoved, you keep standing still,
It's simply your firm anchor that causes me to move
Not you to me, but I to you, drawn by my cords of love.

Lo, what a strange effect this works, the more I draw, you stand
The firmer, and it's your firmness that draws me sooner to your hand.
Ah, now I see how playing 'hard to get' with gesture, cool and sage.
Doesn't extinguish the flames of love, but doth them more enrage!

Aloofness should never be
interpreted as rejection.
